What makes Easter

I should have written this yesterday

When my head was filled with Easter

Yesterday we were walking in flowers

Dogs bounding over tall clover

Hawk daddy tending to hawk mama on the nest

Sunlight, soft breeze, basking, open, easy yes yes what is real, what is true, what matters

Today it is raining

Happy Easter

Really truly

What is loved,
What is limited, finite,
What is known and remembered,
That’s where Easter waits.

It’s as if you are looking inside my heart, binding my wounds and staunching the flow of regret.
