On April 29th Gideon’s Feet hosts our first event in honor of a DFW artist. We hope this will be the first of many events that will bless the artistic community here in Dallas and beyond.

Vicki Caroline Cheatwood is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter, and a company member at Kitchen Dog Theater, where her play “Ruth” premieres this May in the New Works Festival. Her plays have been produced from Dallas to Off-Off-Broadway, and her film “break” was screened in festivals across the world, including the Cannes Independent Film Festival in 2010.

That same year, Vicki’s beloved husband Mark Daves was diagnosed with throat cancer. Mark, one of the original company members at the Undermain Theatre, fought hard and bravely, and ultimately won the battle against the disease. But he could not survive the effects of radiation treatment , and on March 22, 2012, Mark died suddenly at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. He is survived by his wife, his 14-year-old twin sons Ethan and Caleb Daves, his parents and two brothers, and many, many friends.

Mark’s treatment expenses and the frequent and lengthy hospitalizations that he endured have left the family with a huge financial burden. Throughout the ordeal, members of the DFW “theater tribe” closest to the Cheatwood Daves family came forward to offer help and relief. Now those of us who are only now learning their story are joining in the effort.

Please join us on Sunday, April 29th at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the Cheatwood Daves family with a cocktail party at The MAC We’ll have food, drink, raffle , live music and an open mic. The dynamic Paul J. Williams is hosting, and some of DFW’s finest actors and singers will perform some of Vicki’s favorite pieces.

It’s bound to be a ball. SO…break out your cocktail dresses, guys and gals, and come bless Vicki, Ethan and Caleb with your presence.

The event is hosted by Gideon’s Feet and all proceeds will go directly to the family. Please RSVP to info@gideonsfeet.org no later than April 27th. Tickets are $20 minimum to be paid at the door.
